My Fantasy HR Organization - Step One - The Vision

First of all, what would be my vision for the “perfect” HR department?
I would like to see….
Line Managers flocking to HR to get assistance in managing their people so that there are no employee relations issues, employees are performing to their full potential, morale is high, and we are all working as a team to succeed.
We are quickly placing great people in our open positions and keeping them onboard by maintaining an exciting and motivational environment.
The CEO accepts HR at the table as equal partners who bring full value to the “running” of the organization.
Okay. We can stop right here and revel in the image that this Vision portrays…letting it percolate in our minds and our hearts. Isn’t this what we in HR would love to see in our organizations? Are there some rare HR Pros who are living the vision now? If so, Congratulations!
For the rest of us, where are we on the map? Are we a long way from our destination (the Vision)? How do we get there?
